Day 11: Conquering A Fear

Sorry for the mini hiatus...but I'm back!

Interlude: Flashback to 2 Thursdays ago...

So after waking up at a ridiculously obscene hour (7am) we had to attend our screenwriting class at an earlier time. There was a field trip that the program was going to be leaving for later in the afternoon during our regularly scheduled class period.

I was hesitant to go on this field trip for many reasons. The main reason being that we were going to the Bee Institute....for those of you who don't know, I am terrified of a lot of things and bees scare the sh*t out of me! I just...no!

Anyways, the grounds were gorgeous! It was really cool (minus the whole terror part). We were about an hour out of the city and got to try fresh honey and I brought my camera so I got a lot of really nice photos. When it got time to look at one of the hives I almost lost it but decided to stick with the group.

Our tour guide was very informative but when it came time to open the hive, I questioned his credibility. He was lifting up one of the honey combs and there was a massive amount of bees. He got stung on his hand and I swear I saw my life flash before my eyes and I thought he was gonna drop the hive. He then demonstrated how to properly remove the stinger so that you don't release the venom into the wound. He proceeded to tell us that this type of bee's venom was more poisonous than hornet's venom and 120 people die a year from being stung by honeybees. Like you can imagine, I started to back away slowly.

I then started to laugh uncontrollably out of straight fear. Another girl looked at me and I could tell we were on the same page. Then another kid in the group got stung on the face and that's when I was like "Yupp! BYE!"

Minus the whole being a pansy thing and scared of bees thing I really did enjoy the trip!

I mean look at the place!

This picture was at the train station where we got off for the bee institute. All of the graffiti (throughout the Czech Republic that I have seen) is amazing and unique!

We all had to take a boat across the river to get to the bee institute. We were given goulash for lunch, which is a traditonal czech meal here and it is beef and potato pancakes (aka heaven).

Da bees....

About the time I started to back away slowly...

And the trip ended with this picturesque photo. Such an amazing place!

Later that evening we decided that we were going to go to Karaoke Night at our favorite hangout. We quickly became friends with the bartenders there and the bar is actually owned by an American.

We may have had slightly too much fun that night. And I may have been a backup dancer for "Baby Got Back"....
